Aurora was founded in 1891 as the "Town of Aurora" and became incorporated on December 31st, 1897. The town's population increased from 350 residents at incorporation to over 20000 by 1910 which made it an excellent location for many new businesses including those devoted to food processing or agriculture - this led to some jobs being created that would not have been possible elsewhere such as cheesemaking!
